Existing partnerships
The Human Rights Law Clinic relies on case-by-case collaboration with lawyers, legal advice centers, and civil society organizations in both the training of students and in specific case work, with the aim of promoting exchange between academia and practice.
Case work
As part of our case work, we have already collaborated with various law firms and legal advice centers, whereby we distinguish between three forms of cooperation:
- Assumption of the mandate by the Human Rights Law Clinic
- Joint handling of the mandate (co-supervision)
- Collaboration in appeal proceedings
Organisations
As part of the base course Human Rights Law Clinic, students complete a short internship at a legal advice center, an NGO, or selected law firms in the Bern area:
- Asylex
- Bern Advice Center for Undocumented Migrants
- Advice center for people deprived of their liberty (humanrights.ch)
- Church Contact Point for Coercive Measures (KAZ)
- National Commission for the Prevention of Torture (NKVF)
- Swiss Refugee Council (SFH)
- Swiss Red Cross SRC (Humanitarian Visa Advisory Service, Tracing Service)
- Legal advice in Untermatt
- Legal advice center for people in need (RBS Bern)
